Do you have a Gmail account? Most of us do have I guess. But still, many are using it online and in the event that your ISP is down and you need to retrieve some of your messages in your Gmail, you should at least have an "offline content" of your inbox.
The good news is Gmail offers POP and IMAP services to configure your account in Microsoft Outlook. The best thing is it's free. Unlike Yahoo! Mail which needs you to pay in a monthly basis.
Post Office Protocol (POP) is an application-layer Internet standard protocol used by local e-mail clients to retrieve e-mail from a remote server over a TCP/IP connection. POP and IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) are the two most prevalent Internet standard protocols for e-mail retrieval. Virtually all modern e-mail clients and servers support both.
